Marist Invitational: Medalist Kelly Sterling registered a 3-over 76 as Lincoln-Way East (381) edged Marist (383) and Providence (388) for first place at Midlothian Country Club. Nazareth (396) and Marian Catholic (398) rounded out the top five in the 10-team event. Marist?s Ashley Kay (86) was the runner-up, followed by Marian Catholic?s Nina Nicpon (88), Lincoln-Way East?s Karoline Pirko (90), Nazareth?s Kasey Schaffer (91) and Providence?s Alyssa Newling (91).
Joliet Township Invitational: Sandburg (262) finished second behind Naperville North (327) in the 13-team tournament at Woodruff in Plainfield. The Eagles were led by Frankie Saban, who took second with a 76. Naperville North?s Taylor Arenson (73) was the medalist.
Women?s Volleyball
Michigan-Dearborn Tournament: St. Xavier began its season by losing to Madonna (Mich.) 25-18, 25-12, 25-12 and Point Park (Pa.) 25-15, 23-25, 25-20, 25-19. Kelli Shaffer had 42 assists over the two matches for the Cougars, whose other standouts included Lauren Young (32 digs) and Meghan Falsey (16 kills).
