MacNN | iPhone News: General Imaging iPico projector sees holiday release

Compact device projects iOS video to any surface

General Imaging has released the iPico, a hand-held projector with a pop-up connector that turns an iPhone or iPod touch into a portable multimedia solution. The device allows a user to easily screen videos, photos, and movies in real time, to virtually any surface.

The device weighs 3.35 ounces, and is about two-thirds the width of an iPhone. In most cases, the pop-up dock connector does not require removing the source device from a protective case. The image can be up to 50 inches diagonally. The lumen count for the projector was not available, but like most projectors, the iPico is likely work best in barely-lit or dark rooms.

The iPico in white will be available before the 2012 holiday season for $130. The projector works with the third- and fourth- generation iPod touch and the iPhone 3GS, 4, and 4S.
