Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh presents 4th annual Aurora 5K Walk/Run for Cancer

Oshkosh, WI ? The Aurora Health Foundation will hold its fourth annual 5K Walk/Run For Cancer at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh on Saturday, June 23, 2012. All proceeds will benefit the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic at the Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh.

The Aurora 5K Walk/Run for Cancer is a great way to show support for cancer patients in Oshkosh and surrounding communities while enjoying a fun-filled event with family, friends, neighbors, and Aurora caregivers. The Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic in Oshkosh gives patients the opportunity to be close to home at a crucial time in their lives. Funds raised through this event will help the Clinic upgrade technology and equipment to continue to provide the best care in the community.

Steve Farwig, foundation development officer, commented, ?In 2011, a dedicated group of nearly 250 participants braved a very cool, rainy morning to support the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic in Oshkosh, raising over $10,000 to help the clinic provide bariatric chairs for the treatment room and expansion of the library with a large supply of educational books to help patients and their families learn to cope with a cancer diagnosis, its treatment and effects.?

The Aurora 5K Walk/Run for Cancer begins and ends on the grounds of Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh, 855 N. Westhaven Drive.

Awards will be presented to the top male and female runners in multiple age categories and the top overall men?s and women?s finishers, along with a traveling trophy to the team displaying the most spirit. The fun continues at the conclusion of the walk/run, with music, food, massages, face painting, caricatures and great raffle prizes, including UW Badger and Timber Rattlers tickets. WVBO radio will present a live remote and Fang from the Timber Rattlers will greet participants.

Registration and pledge forms are available online at www.Aurora.org/oshkosh5k, at any Aurora Health Care facility in the Oshkosh area, or by calling 920-303-8765 to request a form be mailed to your home. On-line registration ends on Tuesday, June 19th at 5:00 p.m. Day-of registration begins at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 23rd. Individuals registering prior to Friday, June 1st will pay a reduced registration fee.
