JULY 1-2
MUSIC
The Freedom Southern Gospel Jubilee will be July 1-2 at the Jackson County Ag Center in Marianna, Fla. Gold City, McKameys, Dove Brothers, Dixie Echoes and Diplomats will perform today beginning at 7 p.m., and The Perrys, Triumphant Quartet, Michael Combs, Chuck Wagon Gang and Nelons will perform Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. A gospel talent search for soloists and groups will be held Saturday at 1 p.m., and winners will perform that evening. Tickets are $15 per night for adults and $5 per night for children ages 3-11. Advance tickets available at Christian stores in Marianna and Panama City, Fla., as well as at Dove Christian Supply in Dothan. Performances will under an open-air, covered arena rain or shine. Lawn chairs are permitted. Entry fee for the talent search is $50 plus cost of concert tickets. Prizes are $500 for first place, $200 for second place and $50 for third place. Freedom Fest 2011 will be held Saturday, July 2, at Fort Rucker?s Festival Fields. Activities start at 4 p.m. Gary Sinise and The Lt. Dan Band will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. Event wraps up with a fireworks display.

FOOD
Poplar Head Farmers Market will be open on Saturday, July 2, from 8 a.m. to noon in downtown Dothan. The open-air market features summer produce, all-natural grass-fed meats, homemade baked goods, local honey, fresh flowers and more. Under the arbor, the Landmark Dulcimer Club will perform patriotic, folk and gospel music beginning at 9 a.m. Following the demonstration, visitors can sample watermelon from market growers and then vote for their favorite. By the fountain, the Wiregrass Museum of Art staff will lead an activity on constructing your own windsock. The library bookmobile will be at the market, as well. The fifth annual Fourth of July celebration, the Kiwanis Family Fourth, will be held at Center Stage Alabama on Monday. Gates open at 10 a.m. Activities during the day will include a car show, kids? activities, vendors, games and music. The fireworks will go off shortly after dark, or approximately 9:15 p.m. Advance tickets are $6. Tickets are $10 at the gate. Kids age 10 and under enter free. THEATER
The Featured Players Theatre, 137 N. St. Andrews St., in downtown Dothan will present ?Die Cheerleader, DIE!? on Fridays and Saturdays in July, beginning July 8. The production is an audience-participation murder mystery by Michael Prichard. Doors open at 6 p.m. Dinner is served at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. Admission is $25 for adults and $15 for children for both dinner and the show. Reservations are required. WRESTLING
Elite Championship Wrestling presents Salute to the Troops on July 9 at 8 p.m. at the Ozark Civic Center. Doors open at 7 p.m. A portion of the gate sales will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. Former WWE stars to appear include The Road Dogg Jesse James, Billy Gunn, X-Pac, Raven, Buff Bagwell, and Eugene.

JULY 14
MUSIC
Music By Moonlight, the annual concert series at Landmark Park presented by Music South, will feature The Ed Stephenson Group on July 14 at 7:30 p.m. Bring your blanket, lawn chairs and picnic supper and enjoy music under the stars on the gazebo lawn. Admission is free for everyone. In case of rain, the concert will be held in the park?s Stokes Activity Barn. The music series continues July 28 with the Troy University Dothan Community Bank. COMEDY
Comedian James Gregory, billed ?the Funniest Man in America,? will perform at the Dothan Opera House on Saturday, July 23, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $24 to $29. Gregory can be heard weekly on syndicated radio shows such as Rick and Bubba, John Boy and Billy and Bob and Tom.

MUSIC
Jamey Johnson and David Allan Coe will be in concert on July 29 at 8 p.m. at the Dothan Civic Center. Tickets are $25 to $35. Doors open at 7 p.m. Call the Dothan Civic Center box office at (334) 615-3175 for information.

AUG. 20
MUSIC
Downtown Music Fest to raise money for ALS (Lou Gehrig?s disease) will be held on Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Dothan Civic Center. The evening will include road stories with songwriter Buddy Buie, Wilbur Walton, Paul Hornsby and The Strangers. Also, the Atlanta Rhythm Section featuring Paul Goddard, Rodney Justo, Dean Daughtry and J.R. Cobb. The BopCats will close the evening.

AUG. 27
ETC.
The annual Yard Party for Art, a fundraiser for the Wiregrass Museum of Art, will be held Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate.
