The real perspective in the Bible is that the world is fucked up, and we need a way out of it through a spiritual connection to God, who gives us something to build our lives on;loving one another and not being lost to worldliness. Most often people take the Bible as a history book, and though there are some things in it that have been proven to be correct, focusing on things of the world (ie historicity), rather than the message of God, is losing the whole point of a spiritual text.
